The Little Train of St-Trojan

For an unusual trip...

Embark on an original ride on the Little Train of Saint-Trojan, in service since 1963. This tourist train, which proudly displays its bright colours, travels along 12 kilometres of railway track.

The beautiful ride starts through the state forest of Saint-Trojan in the south of the island of Oléron, then travellers quickly reach the south-western end of the island off the beaten track towards the mythical "Pertuis de Maumusson".

The little train also serves another, more family-oriented beach: Gatseau beach, the ideal place to have a picnic on the edge of a bay protected from the wind. There is always a little train that can take you back to Saint-Trojan-les-Bains, a little later.

A ride on the Little Train de Saint-Trojan combines the pleasures of beach days, sunbathing and walks in a natural environment.

In July and August, the Trains du Soleil Couchant (Sunset Trains) run at night for a magical ride with music to Maumusson to see one of the most beautiful sunsets. The return journey is by night, in a magical show, on board the illuminated train.

In June and early September, every Thursday, the "Train des Saveurs" (Flavour Train) offers a unique opportunity to taste local products, oysters and white wine from Oleron on the beach at Maumusson.
