The replica of La Frégate de La Fayette...
With family or friends, we invite you to discover the Hermione, an identical replica of La Fayette's Frigate. Since July 1997, the Hermione-La Fayette Association has embarked on the reconstruction of the Hermione Frigate, the ship which in 1780 enabled La Fayette to join the American insurgents in their fight for independence.
This ship was the witness of a great era of French shipbuilding. The Hermione-La Fayette Association's ambition is to reconstruct the original frigate as faithfully as possible, and to share this adventure with the public so that they can discover the major stages of this reconstruction.
235 years later, the Hermione has once again crossed the Atlantic to follow in the footsteps of La Fayette and experience an exceptional adventure. Since her return to Rochefort at the end of August 2015, the Hermione has been afloat in the Napoleon III dry dock and open to visitors every day. The maintenance of La Frégate continues under the eyes of the public.
Several sailings were carried out in 2016, notably in Brittany with stopovers in Saint-Malo and Brest. In 2018, a major voyage is planned to the Mediterranean.
The frigate Hermione is located 1 hour from the campsite La Boulinière.
